Temple Terrace READS
The 16th annual Temple Terrace READS was held on Saturday, Oct 7, 2023, on a beautiful fall day. The event was well attended by the community and numerous schools were in attendance who provided musical entertainment. The TTGC booth highlighted the importance of pollinators in the garden. Educational boards identifying the pollinators through colorful pictures of Butterflies, Hummingbirds, Bees, Bats, Moths, and other insects were eye catching. 300 gift bags were handed out to the children which included a pollinator bookmark, a packet of flower seeds, pollinator coloring sheet with crayons, butterfly stickers and a lollipop. Most popular was our photo booth where families were able to snap pictures of their family in a colorful fall display of mums, pumpkins, and scarecrows. The Childrens book exchange was another busy and successful part of the day as youngsters came out with armful of especially chosen books. The Temple Terrace Fire Station open house is always a crowd pleasure with children’s activities and demonstration on fire safety. The Temple Terrace Garden Club has participated in this event each year with a booth of activities to educate and inspire the young future gardener.
Thank you sponsors; Curlew Hills Memory Gardens for use of the tent and tables; Home Depot for the donation of the flower seeds and Mist’s Market for loaning mums and pumpkins for the booth display.
A special Thank you to all who participated and especially to the Youth committee who made it all happen.
