Temple Terrace Garden Club

Welcome to Our Club!

We are the oldest established club in Temple Terrace and we always have a lot of fun when we get together. The club year is August through May. Members of the Temple Terrace Garden Club, Inc. (TTGC), meet at Woodmont Clubhouse, 415 Woodmont Ave., Temple Terrace, FL  33617, on the second Wednesday of each month, except when we have a luncheon at the Temple Terrace Golf Club across the street in December and May. Meetings start at 10:00 am, but doors open at 9:00 am. (We do like to chat over coffee and breakfast snacks.)

We are a busy organization, with a lot of planned activities for the gardener as well as for the community. Come join us to learn more about gardening, plants, how to make floral arrangements, creating topiaries, landscaping, how to attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and so much more.

Our Mission and History

The Temple Terrace Garden Club, Inc. (TTGC) was established in 1946. The club mission is to encourage the growth of plants and trees in private and public areas of the City of Temple Terrace and surrounding areas; to further the education of garden club members and the public in horticulture and gardening; and to cooperate with other organizations in the Temple Terrace area in matters of mutual concern.

TTGC joined the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc., (FFGC) in 1947, one of six counties in District VIII, the largest district in the FFGC. As part of the FFGC, we are also part of the Deep South Region of the National Garden Clubs, Inc.  TTGC is the oldest club in Temple Terrace and joined with the Temple Terrace Woman's Club and the Temple Terrace Junior Woman's Club in forming Woodmont Clubhouse Association, Inc., which manages our clubhouse and surrounding park.  Woodmont Clubhouse, Park  and Gazebo are available for rental.

  • Parks and Gardens

Temple Terrace Garden Club is actively involved in our community in many ways. TTGC maintains all of the flower beds at Woodmont Park, the Roundabout park, and Melech House with planting, weeding, mulching and pruning adding beauty to the parks for all to enjoy. Maintenance for the work we do is paid for through our annual sale of Poinsettias and Spring Market (our annual plant festival held in March of each year).

  • Educational Programs

In addition to educational programs provided at our monthly meetings, ranging from Flower Arranging to What Not to Prune, we also have some very interesting field trips each year. Places we have visited include University of Florida/IFAS research centers, behind the scenes tours at Busch Gardens and Epcot, and local nurseries. TTGC also annually gives project grants to local K-12 schools.

  • Community Outreach

TTGC members participate in acts of service to our community by creating Christmas wreaths for Melech Hospice House, providing scholarships for Wikeva Youth Camp, hosting an annual plant fair each March with many vendors, and investing in the city arborist’s tree giveaways each year to residents. Also, among other things, the club maintains two Blue Star Markers in Hillsborough County.
